Leadership Lessons
Preserving the Past and Inspiring the Future
“Words speak boldly of our intentions, but it is our actions that speak louder than the words.”
Bill Russell
It’s inspiring to see individuals in a community working together to solve community challenges.
These video interviews are intended to empower, invoke thoughts, and to inspire the future generations of Jaycees from leaders across the Jaycee spectrum.

Bill Russell
A 2nd generation Jaycee from Columbia South Carolina. Russell joined the Rock Hill Jaycees and was elected the 55th State President for the South Carolina Jaycees serving from 1990-91. He went on to serve as National Vice President (NVP) during 1991-92. He was elected the 73rd National President of the US Junior Chamber and served the Jaycees in 1992-93. He served as Junior Chamber International (JCI) General Legal Counsel in 1995 and JCI Treasurer in 1996. Bill is a US Jaycees Ambassador, a JCI Senator, and served the US Jaycees Foundation. Bill Russell began interviewing the past leadership of the Jaycee Organization in 2025.
The individuals interviewed have walked in the shoes of every member of the Jaycees, from being recruited as a chapter member to becoming chapter presidents, and state officers. Some have continued their roles to include national leadership, and some have gone forward to serve the Junior Chamber International (JCI) world organization.
It is important to remember that as business, community, and elected leaders, we cannot go back and change past mistakes, but we can make changes from these lessons to create new beginnings. A change that begins with us, one person and one community at a time. It is this charge and responsibility that we have from our past to make positive changes to the future generations.
“There is no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn’t matter who gets the credit.”
The Jaycees are defined by our foundational belief in service to humanity. We are builders; we build up people, communities, and in that, build a better organization.
We hope to inspire you to change lives and hearts through your commitment to the Jaycees and the mission it serves.
